Here it is! Your page. Your chance to sound off on stuff you heard on the Zoo. The Zoo welcomes every email and will post as many as possible, with Nick's responses to each (because Tricia's busy and Shaggy can't spell). Check 'em out! Your email just might be up here...
Nick, Tricia and Shaggy,
I am a loyal listener of the Z Morning Zoo and I just had to send you an e-mail in response to all of this Britney stuff. I have to admit, the main reason I tuned in to the VMA's was to see her performance. I will also admit, I have never been a "huge" Britney fan. However, I always thought she was talented, and I still do! I have to say that I believe the media and the "haters" are too blame for a lot of her "trainwreck". Let's be honest, how many mothers in the Hampton Roads can say their stomach looks like hers after they had 2 kids back to back? She has her daily life scrutinized daily by people who know nothing about her but what the press and rumors write. I feel like she really just needs TRUE friends. She has constantly been surrounded by people who were making money off of her, so of course, when the time comes, they will be her friend, but only to a certain extent. She has gone through so much in the last 3-4 years, that I have to commend her for making it through. I feel like the media and the rumor mill have really just had it out for her. Give her a break! Let her live her life, if she chooses to continue to make the wrong decisions, karma will come around. Otherwise, I think her album will be a hit. I think she was really nervous knowing the millions of people tuned in just to see her. How would you feel going on national television after years of being a stay at home mother and going through a nasty divorce? I commend her for her performance, albeit it wasn't a good one. I am tired of everyone calling her fat, I am tired of everyone being so negative before they even give her a chance! Let the girl live her life! Thanks :)
Nicole
Nicole,
I don't think Britney's issue is her weight, I really don't. If you notice, we made perhaps ONE mention of it all morning, but I don't think that's what people have a problem with. Many TRULY GREAT performers weigh more than Brit (Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, and Missy Elliot come to mind). I think America's problem is that the performance was SOOOO overhyped, and we were ALL disappointed to see a Britney who was unprepared, uninterested, and uninspiring. She didn't even look like she wanted to be up there. The Britney of old would've KILLED it on that stage. This Britney had WEEKS to prepare (more like months) but instead of preparing, she chose to hit all the clubs in Vegas and stay out til 4am getting smashed and wearing dresses w/o panties for everyone to see. We're not HATING Britney, we're just disappointed in her-SEVERELY.

Just wanted to say I love listening to you guys! As for the whole Kanye vs. 50 cent rivalry. I don't think either one of them are going to be the one with the biggest debut. Their albums are dropping the same day as country star Kenny Chesney. Granted he is a country star, but he has a HUGE base of loyal fans. I bet he blows them both away on sales.
Nick....
Theresa
Good call Theresa. I hope that's not the case, but you hit it right on the head-country fans are SUPER loyal.

invite me to the station to WIN SOME MONEY I NEED RENT MONEY INVITE ME 2MORA!!!!!!!!!!ILL DO ANY AND EVERYTHING-John

U kno that shawn kingston track well down in richmond instead of
suicidal the song has him saying in denial...is there something wrong
with saying suicidial on the radio
bj
Good ears, and good question! When Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" first hit the air, MANY stations thought the "suicidal...suicidal..." lyric was very negative, and should be censored. It's the judgment call of each station to either: 1. censor it (like MTV) 2. play the "in denial" version or 3. play the original. We at Z104 chose the original, and have received no complaints so far.

I like Fergie but if I never hear Big Girls Don't Cry I will be thrilled. Since I can't smack her it causes me to want to smack anyone just to stop her whining.-Debbie
Don't worry! "Big Girls Don't Cry" has hit its peak I believe, which means you'll start hearing LESS of that song, and more of her new hit "Clumsy", which is also pretty damn good!

I think yall should do a peice about the worst thing u have ever swallowed.I say this bcuz i think i would win. When i was younger i swallowed a thumb tack.Im sure u can imagine how that had to come out Also i think yall should do a peice about the most painful experance u can remember. I know every1 has had there fair share of painful experances but i think mine is right at the top of the list.I had sulfuric acid spill on my face right between my eyes.Luckily all i have is a scar.
Ok...first of all...DAMN. Um, as far as the "worst thing you ever swallowed" segment, I'm just TOO afraid of what Tricia's answer might be (or even Shaggy's for that matter)...but keep those ideas coming!

Hey Nick! I just wanted to say that I have been listening to z104 since I was in 6th grade (I just graduated) and I still love it! I was just a youngin when you did Battle of the Sexes and the prank calls. It was a little disturbing back then, tho, b/c my bus driver would put it on full blast and just imagine a bus full of middle schoolers listening to "Whats Your Fantasy" by Ludacris haha.. Anyway all last year I would listen to you on the way to school and then now on the way to work. I would impress people by recalling the stuff you said on E on the Z and the Big 3. What makes me mad is that I can't call you from my cell phone! Everytime I do it says that the call can't go through, but from a landline it's just a busy signal or something. I try to call in for contests all the time, in fact just now when you did the 1st $500 dollar friday, I know I could have won the money! I was like nooo... I know who Timbaland is! Anyway, I am going to CNU this fall in Newport News and I hope your signal reaches there!!
<3 Tara
Thanks for listening for so long! I really can't imagine an entire bus of middle schoolers singing, "I wanna...lick lick lick you from your head to your toes!" but wait a minute, maybe I can... As for the cellphone thing, just keep trying, and as we say (many times) land lines work better for some reason (we don't know WHY, they just DO). Here's an idea: get a land line phone, and take it with you in the car! All you need is a REEEEEEEAAAAALLLLY long phone cord...

whats up! name is jake, currently in the navy, lived in va beach all my life.. im going to be stationed in good ol williamsburg doing absolutely nothing but the question i have for you is, how did you get in the dj busniess and also how would i be able too get into it as well. im a big music fan from rock to rap to country. pretty much everything. my long time dream is to be a radio dj. too many people tell me with my personality, i could be one of the new next best thing. not really but it sounded pretty cool to hear that. ha. anyway, if you could point me in the right direction towards helping me get in the radio dj business that would be fawking sweet!! tthanx for the help, and keep rockin out!! jake aka J-DuB
Jake,
Because your personality is so good, and others tell you, I'm afraid I can't let you into the DJ business because you will ruin our ratings. I'm sorry. It's nothing personal. OK, on second thought, it's TOTALLY personal. I hope for your downfall.
Actually there are several roads to the radio industry. Sales, promotions, engineering, and programming/air talent. Several roads. What there are NONE of is short-cuts. If you have a degree in broadcasting it helps. But even if you don't, radio is still a medium for anyone who loves to talk and has a lot to say. I can only tell you this: nobody is given an airshift without experience. YEARS of it. And we all start out in the same place: intern. Even yours truly started out as an intern at a classic rock station, where the morning show there told me the only rule: "make sure there's always fresh ground coffee in the pot, and fresh ground pot in the coffee." I was an intern for a couple years, making little to no money. Then I moved up to part-time, where you make around the same hourly wage as an employee at Rally's. I did THAT for a couple more years. Then I finally convinced someone to put me on full-time, and the rest is history. But it's the first few years that you learn the most in. Work as an intern. Work for free. Just get IN that building. You will learn MORE working for a radio station than you will EVER learn in a classroom. Be ready to work weird hours for little or no pay. And for the love of God- LIKE PEOPLE. You don't always have to love people, but LIKE them. We don't need any more bitter S.O.B.'s on the airwaves. They make us all look bad.
Radio is one of the most fun and rewarding jobs on the planet. If you really want to do it, prepare to work for it. But eventually, it's SO worth it. Good luck.

I wanted to e-mail you to raise awareness of a rather rare illness that is effecting people that relocate out of Hampton Roads. It is called Zooitis. Unfortunately, my husband and I have just moved to NY and I am no longer able to listen to your radio show every morning from 530-10. I do realize that you are online but I'm not sure my boss would appreciate me listening to the radio while I'm supposed to be working. It makes me so sad I have been to countless doctors, and ended up diagnosing myself. I don't know what to do! I have tried other morning shows, but just end up turning them off in disgust at their attempt to create a engaging, hilarious, completely inappropriate morning show. I will probably just end up listening to dead air on the way to work (sigh), If you know of any way to cure this please let me know I'm desperate! Thanks :)
Kelly
(Formerly of Gloucester Point VA)
Kel,
I recommend the following course of treatment: 1. When you listen to songs in the car in the morning, yell out "WHAT!!?" and "YEAH!!" in the middle of the songs like Lil Jon would, especially when they don't belong. 2. When you watch the news and see someone injured because of a rare accident, like a guy who gets run over by an ice-cream truck, just imagine that person was Shaggy. 3. If you don't get Tricia's hot rumor of the day, then start snooping into the lives of the people you work with, and then every day when your husband gets home from work yell out, "Here's the HOT rumor of the DAAAAYYYYY...."
Actually if you are having withdrawls, just download any of the over 300 clips of audio from the Z104.COM podcasting page, or from I-Tunes. Put them on a CD and listen to them on the way to work!
Or just come home.
