I’m ENGAGED!!! Joe and I got engaged on our 1 year anniversary which was on Saturday, November 17th! My mom came into town on Wednesday for a conference in downtown Norfolk and my father decided to come in on Saturday to spend the weekend with his ladies! My brother who goes to school at VCU also came to Virginia Beach for the weekend.
Anyway, Joe’s parents live in Chesapeake and his older brother was in town this past weekend to introduce his new girlfriend to his parents- so all of us got together on Saturday. Joe unfortunately had to work but he told us that he was going to be walking with the fire department in the parade (Illumination parade in Norfolk.) So, we all decided to go out and cheer him on in the parade. I had friends come out to the parade as well. So, we’re there on Market and Granby Street…my family, friends and Joe’s family and towards the end the fire trucks approach. They pulled up to where I was standing and then stopped…and stopped the entire parade. Some of Joe’s firefighter friends unrolled a red tarp (somewhat like a red carpet) and Joe’s friend Izzy approaches me and asks to escort me to the fire truck. As we go up to the truck, Joe emerges in his firefighter blues (fancy smacy clothes!) has a dozen long stem roses…gets down on one knee, takes off his hat and says: “Natalia, I love you so much. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?” and of COURSE I said YES! The whole crowd started cheering and clapping! I got into the fire truck with him afterward and road through the rest of the parade with my FIANCE! It was such an amazing and special evening. My parents got the proposal on video, so I will try to get it on here in a few days. Afterward we went to The Painted Lady in downtown Norfolk to celebrate with family and friends!
We haven’t set the date yet, but I will keep you posted. I am sure over Thanksgiving we will start getting into details of the wedding…but I HAD to share the exciting and amazing news!
