Lately I’ve been trying to make it a daily habit to get to the gym, workout- get healthy (or try to stay healthy around the holidays) and my friend Molly convinced me to take a Cycling class. Now, I’ve NEVER been to a cycling class and I’m thinking to myself, “how hard can it be to sit on a stationary bike for an hour??” Oh boy…I HAD NO IDEA what I was in for!
Things I learned in cycling class:
1: It’s ok to quit. Although I didn’t (other people did & I should’ve followed their lead) because A: I almost passed out on the bike B: I almost threw up on the person next to me and C: I think my sweat particles were flying everywhere and I ended up “raining” on the woman next to me (I’m sorry lady!) I was a hot mess.
2: The woman who instructs the class is the devil. Yes, she may look nice…she’s little, toned and cute (and probably eats barley and lettuce as breakfast, lunch and dinner) but she is the devil. Period. There she is…sitting on her bike, barely sweating as she peddles away- yelling at us “SIT UP, SIT DOWN, FASTER! DON’T QUIT NOW” and is evening smiling through some of it. Who the hell does that?!?!? She is smiling because she knows she is slowly murdering me on this bike & finds it humorous. I swear that’s what it was.
3: I have also learned that I will probably never do cycling class again. I never want to feel like my legs are going to fall off and then crawl away on their own, AGAIN. I almost rented a wheelchair to wheel my ass around the office with today…ok, so I may be exaggerating a bit about all of this…but the bottom line is- IT was HARD! So, if you think Cycling is going to be easy…I warned you! |
